S. aureus targetting peptide 2
This 9mer is a peptide sequence that has been identified through phage display to be capable of binding specifically to S. aureus. The sequence information has been published by De Plano et al in 2023. In that study, the authors utilized phage display to identify 5 different peptide sequences to have strong binding affinity to the cell wall surface of S. aureus. The authors demonstrated that the phage displaying these peptides binds specifically to S. aureus and not to other bacterial strains tested. Furthermore, the phages also demonstrated strong binding to multiple S. aureus isolates. Out of the 5 peptide sequences, we picked this one because it had the highest capability to bind to multiple S. aureus isolates. In our study, we planned to fuse this peptide sequence between the DsbA secretion signal peptide (BBa_K5444000) and the ORF of Gp3 or Gp8
